As with the permanent fire, fully extinguish the fire by spreading water from the outside in, using a stick to disturb embers and move around the ash, continue with the water until no glowing embers are left and you are able to place the back of your hand to the ash and not feel any warmth.
When you are satisfied that the fire is fully cooled and there are no more burning embers, spread water around the fire to make sure there are no rogue embers. Spread the ash out and rake back into soil.
The particular temporary fire site was slightly dug out and it was raining, therefore it was very damp underneath. When leaving the site I spread out the ashes neatly and dampened the site, returning original soil and stones that were on top of the fire site.
Please make sure any rubbish or anything you used to light the fire, any resources are removed from the site. You should not be able to easily see there has been a fire. Remove all evidence.

Differences from a permanent site:
At a permanent site, ashes may be left within the fire pit, but for a temporary site, ashes should be spread and scattered away from the location.
Temporary sites require more effort in the bid to hide evidence of fire and requires more steps.
A permanent site often has a structurally built fire pit or stand alone fire pit that remains in place.
