During any outing with the children, we have our standard First Aid Kit, this includes:
Plasters
Sterile Dressings and bandages
Antiseptic wipes and creams
Scissors and Tweezers
Disposable Gloves
Eye Wash
Burn Gel and dressing (only used if no running water)
CPR Face Shield
Rescue blanket
Adhesive Tape for bandages
First Aid Slips
Triangle Bandage
To have on my person:
I personally have to have my mobile phone, fully charged with emergency contact numbers (school and heads/SLT/First Aider) numbers
Whistle for signaling
High Vis Jackets, all adult helpers and children have hi vis to wear at all times
Gloves

The above items I would take with me for all off site excursions with the children. However, when attending Forest School sessions I would also need to take with me:
Multi tool or pen-knife
Fire Starter equipment (matches, lighter)
Fire extinguishing equipment
Compass and map of the area
Rope
Trowels
Bug Hunting equipment
Fresh Water for drinking or cleaning.
Personal Protective Equipment that I must have on me at all times during Forest School sessions are listed below. We are currently looking at having a shelter installed to be able to have these items kept at our site, but for now, we have to bring them with us to our sessions.
Work Gloves - Myself or children would need to wear these if they were completing work with certain tools, lighting fires or cooking. Also for removing any brambles or nettles.
Safety Goggles - We may wear these while lighting fires or working with certain tools.
Sun Cream
Hand sanitiser
Wet Wipes
Toilet paper
Insect Repellent
We request all learners to bring the following items on all visits to the forest school and have spares of these items as well for those who inevitably forget!
Sun Cream
Sun Hat
Waterproof trousers
Waterproof Coat
Water bottles
Spare socks
As a leader, I am also responsible for obtaining a risk assessment for our site and any risks that may occur during our visit, the first aid manual, forest school handbook, wildlife identification book and some energy bars for possible diabetics or tired children needing a snack!
As a forest school leader and also the first aid lead, I must carry out regular checks to all first aid bags and PPE to make sure all has been replenished and all in date.
